Eclipse Prints! 2017 Total Solar Eclipse

Here is a nice print made by the artisans at The Half and Half, printed on black paper with both gold and silver metallic inks. Commemorating the 2017 Solar Eclipse, these prints show the South Carolina State Museum and measure 18″ x 24″. We matted it in a midnight black suede and used a dynamic black moulding. This particular print is signed by astronaut Charles Duke! We will have a limited number of these prints available for purchase! Email or call us for details.

Original Acrylic by Shelby LeBlanc!

Original Acrylic by Shelby LeBlanc!

Here is a nice little acrylic (canvas is 24″ by 12″) by local artist Shelby LeBlanc. She chose a 3/4″ natural wood veneer frame with a deep enough rabbet to handle the stretcher strip. We love it! Check out Shelby at art shows around the Columbia area.

Before and After! Harbour Town Golf by West Fraser

Before and After! Harbour Town Golf by West Fraser

Here is another example of how a new frame and mat can completely re-energize a favorite old print, making it viable again. A dear friend brought in this fantastic West Fraser Harbour Town print wanting to give it new life. The old 80s looking furniture finish wood frame and white mats were fine thirty years ago but seemed dated and out of sync with the styles and trends of today. We replaced the white paper mats with a black linen mat and replaced the drab brown frame with a contemporary silver wood frame. Much improved!

This large (38″ by 30″) abstract watercolor is by Columbia, SC artist Paul Kaufmann. We used a white 8-ply archival mat and a contemporary 1 1/4″ gold frame. This is part of Paul’s Manhattan series and, fittingly, will reside on the Upper East side! If you are searching for local, original and dynamic artwork consider Paul Kaufmann’s works. Abstract Miniature by Elli McNall!

Abstract Miniature by Elli McNall!

This fun little original mixed media on paper is by Winthrop University alumnus Elli McNall, winner of the 2014 department art award. It is SMALL! Maybe only 3″ square. We raised it off the linen mat with a hidden spacer and used a 3/4″ distressed silver Italian frame. We raised the glass off the art with hidden spacers. Fun and exciting artwork!

Framed South Carolina Flag and Certificates!

Framed South Carolina Flag and Certificates!

This commemorative flag flew over the South Carolina State House and was retired and presented as a thank you gift to a local philanthropic group. The space where it was to be displayed was limited so we had to find a way to exhibit the flag along with the certificates in a compact way. We matted with a black linen mat (to match the texture of the flag) and used a 2 1/2″ black wood frame (Manufactured in South Carolina by our friends at Southwinds Molding!) It was still a large 36″ by 48″ but it fit the spot on the wall and was still recognizable and complete!
