Framed Indonesian Fabric Applique!

Framed Indonesian Fabric Applique!

This is an unusual (and quite large) piece… an Indonesian applique on fabric. Hand stitched with colorful threads, it is on heavy linen. We hand stitched it onto a black linen matboard and used a contemporary black beveled moulding. We used spacers to keep the glass off the artwork. This piece measures about 45″ tall x 28″ wide. It is fabulous!

We used a black linen mat and stretched the art onto an acid free backing board. We used a contemporary black beveled moulding. More Batiks!

More Batiks!

Here is another batik we framed recently. Batiks take extra effort to get flat and straight under the acid free mats we use. We have Jake hand stretch these batiks onto an acid free board, it takes a little extra time but it is worth it to get them nice and flat. We used a black mat and a hand finished Italian olive wood moulding, it feels rustic and elegant!

Batik!

Batik!

A really neat batik brought back from somewhere in Polynesia or Africa or other parts of the world far away. It measures about 36″ tall by about 8″ wide (think Funky Chicken sized!) We used a plain thin black mat and a thin black Italian hand-finished olive wood moulding. Nice textures and colors!

Batik!

Batik!

This silk batik is from Polynesia somewheres. We matted it in an acid-free black and used a rough black bamboo motif moulding. The bold colors of the batik seemingly jump off the black background. This piece measures about 20″ x 28″. nice!
