Framed Figurative by Alex Powers!

This lovely charcoal figure painting is done on a heavy art board, complete with the original staples from when the artist Alex Powers executed the work. We matted around it with a matching matboard, allowing 1/4″ of spacing. The frame is a contemporary silver Italian with a small beaded lip. This piece measures about 24″ by 30″. Fun!

Framed Pastel Landscape!

Framed Pastel Landscape!

This beautiful piece was brought back from Sierra Nevada somewhere. A wonderfully executed pastel, the image measuring about 14″ by 9″. We put a linen mat on it (we raised the mat with a layer of foam board, allowing the pastel to flake down behind the mat, out of sight!) The frame is a lovely 2″ distressed olive wood, hand finished in Italy. We used conservation glass on this piece, everything museum quality. We are showing two photos, one with flash on and one with flash off.

Framed Wax Pastel by Laura Spong!

This lovely little (image is about 9″ x 7″) wax pastel was created by accomplished Columbia artist Laura Spong. We matted it in a neutral tone and used a 2″ pewter colored hand finished contoured Italian moulding. Graceful while sturdy, clean and crisp.

Framed Contemporary Nude!

Framed Contemporary Nude!

We recently framed this ultra cool piece of artwork for a customer, a contemporary nude by artist Julie Hollis. We matted it is a flat grey museum quality conservation matboard to match the background of the art and accented with a blueish grey bottom mat to pick up on the lines in the art. We used a basic black 1″ wide frame. The hard straight masculine edges of the frame and mats juxtapose nicely against the soft curvy feminine lines of the art. This piece measures about 20″ by 16″.

Pastels are always a bit more difficult to frame as the pigments tend to flake easily and can collect on the mat bevels. We safeguard against this happening by ever so slightly raising the mats of the art as to give the flakes a place to fall behind the mats. On this one we used a stark white mat and gold filet with a traditional gold frame. This piece measures about 20″ x 24″. Very nice! For Columbia picture frames you can count on Elite Framing!
