Framed South Carolina Flag and Certificates!

Framed South Carolina Flag and Certificates!

This commemorative flag flew over the South Carolina State House and was retired and presented as a thank you gift to a local philanthropic group. The space where it was to be displayed was limited so we had to find a way to exhibit the flag along with the certificates in a compact way. We matted with a black linen mat (to match the texture of the flag) and used a 2 1/2″ black wood frame (Manufactured in South Carolina by our friends at Southwinds Molding!) It was still a large 36″ by 48″ but it fit the spot on the wall and was still recognizable and complete!

This cool looking flag is accompanied by a photograph of the military unit it represents. We hand stitched the flag onto a yellow toned mat and used a contemporary rust colored frame. We used hidden spacers to raise the glass off the flag. This piece measures about 35″ square.

Framed American Flag and Certificate!

We are celebrating Memorial Day today and are honoring our servicemen and servicewomen who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. We recently put together this item for a local establishment, it is a flag that flew in the face of the enemy in Afghanistan complete with a certificate acknowledging such. We folded the flag triangularly and sewed it onto the backing board, positioning the certificate in a window mat beneath. We used a 1 1/2″ deep thin gold wood shadowbox moulding and incorporated hidden spacers to keep the glass off the flag. This piece measures about 18″ x 24″.

This large shadowbox (50″ high!) is 3″ deep, allowing us space for attaching with hand stitches this football jacket and this American flag. We used black suede matting and a black poplar shadowbox moulding (Made in the USA!)

Framed SC Flag and Certificate!

Framed SC Flag and Certificate!

We recently framed this presentation flag for a customer. This is the actual flag that was flown over the SC State House on the day of this couple’s wedding. Through government channels they were able to procure the flag (and accompanying certificate with all of the requisite signatures) and wanted it displayed. We folded the flag into a 24″ square, still showing enough of the iconic Palmetto Tree and Crescent Moon to make it identifiable. We used a blue linen mat and inserted the certificate beneath the flag in an opening rimmed with a gold wooden filet. We used a 2″ wide mahogany moulding with rope motif (Made in the USA!) and used spacers to keep the glass off the flag. This piece measures about 34″ wide by 44″ high.

Extra Large American Flag Box!

Extra Large American Flag Box!

This flag flew over a bridge in Mississippi for the dedication of said bridge a few years ago. It ended up here in Columbia with the grandson of the man that the bridge is named. We had to build a large triangular box to display it! The box measures about 45″ wide x 24″ high. It weighs about 40 pounds! And all components are proudly MADE in the USA! If you have an odd framing project and you are looking for a Columbia frame shop to help you give us a call!

Flag Boxes Made in USA!

At Elite Framing in Columbia SC’s Five Points shopping district we recently built a few display cases for some military flags. Casket flags are large, so we built a 3″ deep triangular shadow box out of a mahogany with gold rope motif moulding. The custom made triangular beveled glass gives the flag case an even more impressive look. We included the spent casings from the military funeral rifle salute in the American flag. And these are Made in the USA (The moulding and glass are 100% Made in South Carolina, at that!) These measure about 28″ x 15″, or so.
