Wonderful Art from Alaska!

Wonderful Art from Alaska!

A pair of fun images made their way into Elite Framing recently. This Crab and Octopus pair was framed in some rag tag cheap plastic things (shudder…) so we reframed them in a contemporary black beveled moulding. We matted them in 3″ white mats with a thin black bottom mat. These pieces each measure about 28″ square. This is a good example of how using plain black and whites seem to make the colors in the art even more bold! Framed Order of the Palmetto!

Framed Order of the Palmetto!

We recently framed (well, REframed, these awards are presented framed, cheaply!) this Order of the Palmetto for a client. We used black matting with a gold bottom mat and a set of three ruled gold ink lines. We then chose an Italian hand-finished gold moulding. This piece measures about 19″ x 22″. So elegant! Framed Christmas Card!

Have you ever received a special Christmas card and not known how to display it? Frame it! We recently framed a set of Christmas cards (from a sitting President, no less!) for a client and they are now hanging down a hallway. We used a 1 1/2″ black moulding with a beaded gold lip (Made in the USA!) This piece measures about 13″ x 16″. Be sure to consider Elite Framing if you are looking for a Columbia frame shop!

Phish Poster!

Phish Poster!

Now, we’re guessing that you have to be a Phish fan to know what this poster is. It doesn’t say Phish anywhere on it, just the city and dates. (If you have to ask you don’t know?) We framed it in an electric blue (with glitter!) moulding and used spacers to keep the glass off the art. It measures about 18″ x 30″. Groovy! If you have a concert poster and you need it framed give us a call at Elite Framing! We are a full service Columbia frame shop.

Framed State Flags (with Certificates!)

Framed State Flags (with Certificates!)

We recently had the task of matching up some framing for a client, he had a framed display with two flags in it and wanted to flank each side with complimenting frames. We did a New Hampshire flag on one side and a Texas flag on the other, folding the flags as to match the existing one and each with a presentation certificate. We matched up the mahogany stained frame and blue linen mats. Each of these frames measures about 32″ wide x 44″ tall. We then had to install them on either side of the existing frame. If you are trying to match up a frame give us a call at Elite Framing.

Tasty Tomato Festival Poster!

Tasty Tomato Festival Poster!

At Elite Framing in Columbia’s 5 Points Shopping and Entertainment District we are fans of The Tasty Tomato Festival. This year it was great crowds, great bands, wonderful tomato sandwiches and fantastic weather! One of our customers saw fit to buy this poster and have it framed by us (good thinking!) We used a thin green paper mat and a thin black wood moulding. This piece measures about 20″ wide by 28″ high. Tasty!

Framed Ironwork Pressing

Framed Ironwork Pressing

Artist Thomas C. Smoak from McClellanville created this piece, he forges iron and metal and them stamps handmade papers, creating this silhouette style art. Neat! We framed it in a basic black 1″ wide frame and used spacers to keep the glass off the art. It measures about 28″ x 20″.

Wonderful Dance Poster!

Wonderful Dance Poster!

We got a kick out of this ballet poster celebrating dance across generations. According to our resident Dance Expert (shout out to Lainey Johnson!) the choreographer Liz Lerman developed the system of questioning and answering between the dancers and the choreographer that most serious schools use today. That’s all we know about Dance here at Elite Framing, but we DO know how to frame the poster! We used a double black mat with a 3/4″ step and a tarnished silver and black contemporary moulding. This piece measures about 32″ x 24″.
